The Watoto Big Party
The grammy award winning artist, Israel Houghton is in Uganda alongside New Breed, Brian & Bobbie Houston (Hillsong Church) to celebrate with Watoto Church as they mark an amazing 30 years of being the hands and feet of Jesus in Uganda. This is a real huge party in anticipation, a soccer match between the Watoto Children and the National Football Team (The Uganda Cranes), a cultural festival, the restore tour all this in one big action packed week.
The line up is full of energy and excitement you wouldn’t want to miss this one.
• Thursday 5th June: Opening night with Watoto Choir, featuring guest artist Israel Houghton and New Breed (USA) and guest speakers, Brian & Bobbie Houston (Hillsong Church) at Watoto Church West, Kyengera. Gates open at 4pm.
• Saturday 7th June: Tour of Watoto Villages and projects in Mpigi and Wakiso, culminating in a cultural festival.
• Sunday 8th June: Grand 20th Anniversary Celebration with Watoto Choir, featuring guest speakers, Brian & Bobbie Houston (Hillsong Church) at Watoto Church West, Kyengera. Gates open at 10am.
Watoto Church is an English-speaking cell based, community church established in Kampala, Uganda and positioned for influence in the rest of Africa and the world. Watoto Church has become globally known for its focus on community relevance based on the key mandate to expedite love, justice and equity to a lost and dying world through holistic ministry.
Launched with 78 people on Sunday 22nd April 1984, Watoto Church has grown to be a phenomenal beacon of hope and an example of real transformation in Africa and its surrounds. Today, more than 23,000 people attend one of the 26 weekend services at 10 campuses in Kampala, Wakiso, Mpigi, Gulu and Juba, South Sudan.

A Christmas Cantata: for the past 29 years, Watoto Church’s annual Christmas cantata has been and continues to keep Ugandans anticipating the Christmas season all year.
Heaven’s Gates and Hell’s Flames: a vibrant stage production that has been performed around the globe for over 45 years, Heaven’s Gates and Hell’s Flames is set to the backdrop of drama and advanced multimedia.
Kidz ‘n Ova: an annual children’s praise and worship festival is designed to instruct children be responsible and other Christian morals.
The church hosts Youth events throughout the year including camps, conferences and the annual World AIDS Day awareness campaign that challenges young people to take stand against the spread of HIV/AIDS as well as care individuals and families infected and affected by HIV/AIDS in Uganda.
104.1 PowerFM Prison Ministry: every Easter, Watoto Church’s radio station 104.1 PowerFM visits Luzira prison and shares the Easter spirit with prison inmates through a gospel concert and gifts like food, clothes and assortments.
104.1 PowerFM’s Phatfest has become the biggest annual gospel event in East Africa attracting key Gospel artists who are using their talent to impact lives for Christ.
Watoto Children’s Choir – since 1994, the Watoto Children’s Choirs tour the world annually as advocates for the 18 million African children currently orphaned by AIDS.
Watoto Villages – homes for children and mothers are constructed in the form of small, vibrant communities referred to as villages.
Baby Watoto – Baby Watoto was initiated to provide critical care to destitute babies aged 0-2 years, giving them the best possible start in life.
Education: Formal and Technical Education – Watoto’s key mandate is to raise the next generation of African leaders by pursuing excellence in academic and practical skills; integrity in conduct and moral values, so that each child will become a responsible Christian and a productive citizen of their nation.
Medical Intervention – Watoto villages contain clinics/medical centres that provide basic health services to Watoto children, mothers and other residents, as well the surrounding community
Living Hope: reaching vulnerable women – Watoto’s Living Hope operates to restore Africa’s most marginalised and wounded people – women.
